How We Work

Our Process

Restraint

We bring a light touch to the spaces we design, providing depth and balance while illuminating the home’s natural positive characteristics.

Context

Our designs speak in the native language of the space and consider the innate flow and relation of the room to its purpose and conditions.

Redefine

Reinvention is a part of evolution. Together with our clients, our designs give you a chance to rethink your brand, message, and style.

In addition to hearing what’s important to you, we draw inspiration from many other aspects of interiors. It’s about knowing what needs to be complementary in one aspect—space, color, or weight—but not in another. This is where a team of highly qualified designers makes a difference not only in the overall outcome, but also in the process.

STEP 1: INSPIRATION

Our approach to a space often starts with a fabric, though it can begin with many other pieces, thoughts, or messages. That’s when other ideas start to rise to the top—a yellow accent in this fabric triggers the inclusion of a well-placed lamp or patterned arm chair. From there, that first vision, the bubbles of design simply cascade until there’s an overall approach or theme. Then it’s time for spatial planning and rendering. After all, there’s no use in adding furnishings without knowing the appropriate size and scale.

STEP 2: SPATIAL PLANNING

As an example in spatial planning, consider a kitchen. In a large kitchen, it may appear as if there’s space for an island, but perhaps the entry and exit to the room are situated in such a way that an island may interrupt traffic—and even meal preparation. To move easily about in any space, you need several feet (three to be exact). This is something we consider in every project—best practices, down to the inch.

STEP 3: RENDERING

Our renderings are purely inspirational but give you the chance to “see” what’s proposed and bring any spatial planning exercises to life. Nothing is set in stone, however. In all cases, we encourage our clients to continue imagining other options along the way. This is a creative process, from beginning to end.

STEP 4: FURNISHING

This is when everything starts to come together, like completing a layered and lush puzzle. Many factors go into selecting furnishings, including aesthetics, budget, and availability. Beyond all of the fantastic pieces we see on a regular basis, our clients also have access to our wholesale vendors, which often makes your favorite piece(s) more affordable.
